48. Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

In my mind, Resident Evil was the definitive Playstation franchise. It was edgy, dark, and showed off what two cds could do. Unlike the first game, you’re not confined to one building, as the whole city is your undead playground. From the police station to Umbrella’s laboratory, there were plenty of pre-rendered perils to get into. RE2 also has two entirely different storylines, which dramatically extends its replay value. The voice acting also deserves a mention. Seeing as how Capcom was in largely uncharted waters, they actually did a pretty bang up job. Also, can I just say, William Birkin needs to stay dead.
